NEEDHAM, Ollie N. - 78, 6795 W. 300 N. Sharpsville, Indiana 46068 and formerly a 50 year resident of Flint, Michigan died Saturday November 15, 2008 at 5:50 a.m. at his home. He was born May 14, 1930 in Formosa, Arkansas, the son of John Ollie and Mabel (Woolverton) Needham. On September 27, 1948 in Pigott, Arkansas, he married Peggy J. Buchanan and she survives. He was a 1948 graduate of Morrilton High School in Arkansas. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He worked as a millwright at the GM Buick Plant in Flint, MI for 42 years, retiring in 1992. He attended Morning Star Church in Kokomo and was a member of UAW Local #599. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and enjoying God's creation in nature. He took great pride in his daughters and the accomplishments of his seven grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Myla L. Thayer and her husband Bill of Sharpsville and Lori Aikman and her husband Steve of El Paso, Texas; seven grandchildren, Josh Thayer, Joel Thayer, Hannah Thayer, Hayley Thayer, Rachel Aikman, Mark Aikman, and Sarah Aikman. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jessie Lightfoot. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Morning Star Church, 2900 E. Markland Ave. Kokomo, Indiana with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery in Kokomo. The family will receive friends at the church from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to "The Connection", an outreach ministry of Morning Star Church.
